전세 (Jeonse)

A large lump-sum deposit, no monthly rent.

Jeonse is a uniquely Korean system: instead of paying monthly rent, you deposit a very large sum (often 50–80% of the property value) with the landlord. You pay no monthly rent, and the full deposit is returned when you move out. It requires a lot of upfront cash, so many foreigners choose wolse instead.
